Here we are 2021 and we're still spending more time at home than we had thought we would be spending. Excess time has led us to be creative in how we are spending that time, whether alone or with others.

After watching the news and reading the headlines, it is obvious that most people blame President Trump and his enablers in Congress for the Jan. 6 insurrection in the Capitol.

In recent weeks, it's been comforting to see tangible examples of the COVID-19 vaccine rollout locally, with first doses administered in late December to first responders and over the past weekend to residents and staff at Cantata Adult Life Services in Brookfield.

Oh, deer! After reading a story in last week's Landmark about two deer being hit by cars within seconds of each other on First Avenue, I was reminded that there are number animals in the area. Poor things!

No one could have predicted the abyss of 2020 when it took the stage a year ago. Clearly it has been an almost impossible challenge from start to finish. Globally, nationally, locally, COVID-19 had us by the neck throughout the year.

It's human nature to put frames around everything, even time, as if each rotation of the Earth around the sun was a discrete occurrence and not just perpetual motion spinning the cycle of seasons around us.
