When the Brookfield Village Board earlier this year put the brakes on funding Phase I engineering for a plan to construct a bike path that would connect Prairie Avenue to a regional trail network along 31st Street, we were, frankly, disappointed.
Ever wonder where the money goes after you have made a donation? Of course you have, and for those of you who have been so generous in donating to the Riverside-Brookfield Educational Foundation during their telethon in the spring, here is one of those interesting stories.

My husband and I were at the Riverside village meeting on Sept. 5. There was a huge turnout and the general consensus was against having a cannabis dispensary in Riverside.

Be sure to head on over to the Broadway Avenue business district in Brookfield on Sept. 20 as the business owners there celebrate the completion of the summer-long reconstruction project.

Thank you for writing such a wonderful obituary about Susan Fong who I knew from childhood as Ms. Fong or just Susie. Susie was one of those people that just brought warmth and magic wherever she went and with whomever she interacted. When Chef Shangri-La opened in the 1970s, I seem to remember going there for dinner with my parents so many times. I could not get enough of the restaurant's incredible sweet and sour chicken. It was incredible. It still is the best!
