The village of Riverside has rescheduled its Community Conversation on Policing, postponed last week following an illness contracted by Riverside Police Chief Thomas Weitzel.

The village of Riverside has postponed its community conversation about policing, which has been scheduled for tonight at 7 p.m. Police Chief Thomas Weitzel, according to Village President Ben Sells, "is not feeling well and out of an abundance of caution he is working from home."

The Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railroad has installed reflective bollards along all Riverside grade crossings, which the village's police chief hopes will cut down on the number of incidents where drivers, impaired and otherwise, drive onto the railroad tracks.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Des Plaines River at Riverside after heavy rains in recent days, including a heavy downpour overnight on May 14-15.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for the Des Plaines River between Roosevelt Road in Forest Park on the north and Hodgkins on the south. The river is expected to crest in Riverside at nearly 7.3 feet by Friday morning.
