Cermak Plaza certainly has made a rebound, though some folks avoid it due to the nightmare of a parking lot. There has to be a way to reconfigure the traffic flow. Re: North Riverside Park Mall, the crime, shootings and looting have to be addressed. People don't want to shop where they don't feel safe.

Thank god. That store is a hole. Worst produce department of any store in the area for over 20 years.

Sad to see it go. It was my favorite grocery store.

Well it's obvious that upscale shoppers avoid that whole area like the plague (or pandemic), and will continue to do so. Binny's helped put a nail in Jewels coffin, as well as the few liquor sellers nearby. Costco is polishing off several businesses, from gas stations to smaller food stores and bakeries. There is a retail saturation point that has been reached in that area, it's time for something new.

Here's another angle for redevelopment of the faltering mall property; https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-06-30/a-case-for-turning-empty-malls-into-housing?srnd=premium

I think on the 4th, the Police pretty much let it go. It would be OVERWHELMING for them to try to deal with everybody doing it. This year will be far worse because Indianna is selling the Semi-PRO stuff.

I hope the current store manager, Meagan finds a good store. She did a great job when she was at the Stickney store and customers missed her so. She had to be good, a number of Stickney Jewel staff followed her to the NR store. Maybe the group will be returning to Stickney.

The mall has been falling apart for years, a bunch of cheap stores with imitation items, increased crime. It has turned like Ford city mall did.

Time to find another use for that property. https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2020-06-29/coronavirus-costs-malls-can-t-survive-if-there-aren-t-any-stores

It's time to close this mall down, a trash dump would be an improvement at this point.
