If you thought ongoing road construction on First Avenue and LaGrange Road was a daily pain in the neck during the past few months, you can add another infrastructure project to the list.
On July 26, the Illinois Department of Transportation was slated to begin a three-month long repair project to the Ogden Avenue bridge that spans the Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad tracks in LaGrange, just west of Brookfield.
In a recent press release, IDOT announced "permanent lane closures and width restrictions" during construction on the bridge until the construction wraps up at the end of October.
Traffic will be limited to one lane in either direction between Burlington and Washington avenues, according to the press release, with traffic lanes reduced in width to 9 feet.
Work includes repairs to bridge joints, substructure and concrete.
"Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area," the IDOT press release states. "Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the works zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
